Rivian Recalls 2022 R1S, R1T for Improperly Deploying Airbags

1. Rivian is recalling its R1S SUV and R1T pickup truck due to improperly deploying front-passenger airbags.

2. More than 12,700 vehicles are affected by this recall.

3. Affected vehicles include model-year 2022 examples of the R1S and R1T.

4. A faulty automatic locking retractor sensor in the front-passenger seat belt may cause the issue.

5. The sensor may report being on when it’s actually off, affecting airbag deployment.

6. An improperly deployed airbag can increase the risk of injury during a crash.

7. Dealers will inspect and replace the front-passenger seat belt system components for free.

8. Rivian will begin notifying owners on April 8.
