Boogey Van

By Pickup Trucker

TRUCK NAME: Boogey Van

MAKE: 1995 Ford Aerostar Van (fiberglass body)

OWNER: Paul Shafer

DRIVER: Pam Hutzell

TOWN/CITY: Hagerstown, Maryland

ENGINE SIZE: 572cubic inch Ford

INFORMATION: This is the only monster truck van currently on the racing circuit, & it’s driven by one of the only female monster truck driver in the business, Pam Vaters. She claims that “The Boogey Van doesn’t run right when men drive it!”
She got into the monster truck scene through her ex-husband Mike Vaters (Black Stallion), back in 1984, working as crew chief for his truck the Black Stallion. It wasn’t until 1992 after spending eight years traveling with her him, she decided it was about time that she had a truck.
I met Pam at the Truck Fest in Charlotte 1997, & let me tell you she’s quite a babe!
Pam had some time away from the Monster Truck circuit in 1998, after splitting with husband Mike. But after coming to an agreement, in the divorce settlement, she had the Boogy Van truck, while Mike kept his Black Stallion truck. Pam has since sold the truck to Paul Shafer, who owns Monster Patrol, Bearfoot, along with many other trucks. She will remain the driver of the truck.
